It is the basic goal of those who study and plan for an energy system to provide energy systems that are ecologically and socially sustainable, as well as being low-carbon. All four of these goals are essential to creating a reality that we will be able to maintain our planet in a sustainable state.
Ecologically, it’s important to be concerned with the well-being of our planet. Energy management requires us to consider the environment’s role in the production of our fuels. All four of these areas are integral to us being eco-conscious.
For instance, we have to worry about fossil fuels such as coal, which are comprised of a wide range of toxic chemicals, which is why it’s important to think about the environmental impact that coal has on our environment. We also have to consider the land where trees grow, and how we manage the land and the use of our property. And of course, the very name of these fuels — fossil fuels — is a reference to how they are made from the remains of animals and plants. It is this last point that has led to concerns over global warming and climate change.
The global community has had many different approaches at the present time in order to help minimize the global warming that can come from the release of carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas. Although one must note that this may not be the best way to go in our effort to utilize renewable sources of energy, it is an excellent way to begin to alleviate the release of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
Bio-fuels are one of the main ways that we can relieve the release of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. These are vegetable oil based fuels that include biodiesel, ethanol, and various other sources of organic vegetable oil. Bio-fuels can be created by using corn, rice, potatoes, peas, soybeans, and various other things that are commonly used in the food supply.
There are many considerations involved when making the decision to use bio-fuels, but one of the biggest concerns with bio-fuels is that there will be no future need for them. Bio-fuels are one of the primary methods of alleviating the release of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, but this is a long-term effort that will require all of us to contribute in our own way to this fight against global warming.
