The Multiple Meaning Word Worksheets (M.O.W.S) are an interesting way to teach your students’ vocabulary and spelling. This educational software has been developed by The Peachtree Software Corporation. There are two main types of the M.O.W.S: the phonics worksheets and the full-color worksheets. Here is a look at the differences in each format.
The M.O.W.S workbooks contain word frequency lists for words such as go, bike, buy, family, make, mold, etc. The number of words that appear for each word is known as the vocabulary frequency, which helps you gauge how much your students know about a specific word. The word frequency list can also be viewed from the program window in the M.O.W.S, or you can view a list of all words that students have learned so far on the main M.O.W.S menu bar.
The word worksheets allow you to compare the vocabulary that students are learning with what they already know and with what they are capable of learning in a variety of contexts. In other words, the word worksheets allow you to see how much students are actually learning. By making the word worksheets, you can see which vocabulary words students are actually mastering. A workbook that only includes a few words, while missing out on the top words, would tell you that your students are not learning as much vocabulary in the worksheet format.
The word worksheets and each individual word include the vocabulary word frequencies, and you can also see which words are included in each worksheet. One of the biggest reasons for the word frequency lists is to help you gauge the frequency of the word or words that students are acquiring vocabulary for. If there are only a few words, you can judge by simply seeing how many times the word is shown as the word frequency list.
The M.O.W.S word worksheets also give you a visual chart that shows you the word mastery of each student. The chart can be sorted by any number of criteria such as word mastery, number of lessons taught, and number of words learned so far. When you add this to the word frequencies, it will allow you to see if your students are learning as much vocabulary as they need to for the courses they are taking.
It is important to note that the word worksheets are not completely accurate. Although the word frequencies are listed, the lists are not completely accurate. The frequency lists are given based on which words students are known to know, but this list is based on what most students know, not all of them.
The word worksheets to help you get a better picture of which words your students are actually learning and which ones they are not. For instance, if students are able to recall a lot of the words you use when teaching and learning, you might want to consider changing some of the vocabulary words in your worksheets. You might also want to change the word frequencies for some of the words you are using as well.
What are your classroom’s challenges when it comes to vocabulary and spelling? Using word worksheets can help you get a better understanding of the way you are teaching your students. Word worksheets can give you the tools you need to improve your teaching skills and support your students with more advanced vocabulary skills.
