Should Shouldn’t Worksheet

The first part of my workbook is an essay, and I want to make sure that the “Should” sentence contains an “If”. This worksheet will help me with that.

Have you ever sat down to write a story and found that it doesn’t flow right? Sometimes you’ll be writing a story that will unfold over several scenes. But sometimes you’ll be just sitting down at a blank page and it doesn’t flow.

If this happens to you, you need to change the structure of your story so that it flows. You need to make sure that each scene follows a certain pattern and that each “Should” sentence has a corresponding “If”.

Should the school let me keep the car I want to buy if I pay my money up front? Should I go to the park to play with my dog or is it too cold out? Should I drive the car all the way to the park if I want to play with my dog?

When I write stories, I don’t always plan out the scenes as much as I should. Because of this, I don’t always remember to plan out these scenes.

But when I am writing a story, it’s easier for me to plan out the scenes ahead of time. Then I just need to go through each scene one at a time, then write each scene and should then move on to the next scene and so on.

So you could write a scene in which a character wants to go to the beach. Then you should write the first scene in which the character meets the beach.

Because that’s okay, because when I wrote that scene I already had a beach scene in mind. And then I could move on and do the next scene which was, “should go to the beach”, and I would be done with that scene.
