Free Cutting Worksheets

Most children are busy cutters, and it can be difficult to make them cut things with the cutting worksheets. There are however several ways to get them to do the task without asking for any cost.

Firstly, remember to hold back as the child may feel compelled to try it. Take time to explain how they should cut their first time, and the right way to do it, and then hand them the sheet or package of cutters. You may even want to use a blank piece of paper or notebook for this. Do not give in at first, and let them make mistakes and learn the right way to use the cutting worksheet.

As a word of caution, if the child has not made a wrong cut yet, you may find it easier to start by giving them the right piece of wood. As the child’s confidence grows, they will be able to get better at doing the cuts without feeling the need to do a trial run.

Every child will be interested in doing things that they have always wanted to do. Give them the sheet with cut-outs of the things they want to try out first. Again, set aside time to teach the children, and let them make mistakes until they feel confident enough to do a free cutting worksheet on their own.

For example, if a child has always wanted to try riding a high chair in the kitchen, or a go-kart. Give them a large sheet of paper, with the image of their dream riding and go-karting, and let them try it out. They will be amazed at the results, and when they have finished, they may ask you to teach them more about these hobbies!

As well as simply giving children what they want to do, it is good to make them create things themselves. For example, if your child loves to play dress up, you can help them create a dress-up hat or wig. This can be used over again as a reminder of what they have learned.
