Finding Life Skills Worksheets that works for a child can be difficult, but not impossible. When I was a teenager, I didn’t have a lot of discipline. I would lie and cheat and steal and do things like that. I had my very own special way of doing things and probably didn’t even realize that what I was doing was wrong at the time.
The first thing that my Dad would use when Darren was growing up was Life Skills Worksheets. We would sit down with him and have him read them. My Dad used to have an audio recorder that he would record everything we did in front of him. He used to take those recordings, put them in a book that we called “The Teacup Journal” and use them to teach us life lessons.
It took years for me to realize that the discipline I had was a behavior problem that I needed to change. If I could hear my Dad use this valuable tool regularly, I had no problem discovering what that meant.
Teaching your child about how the world works and using Life Skills Worksheets can be a two-way street, which can have a positive and a negative and an indirect effect on how they respond to discipline. There are both positives and negatives that can come from a child who feels like they have to learn as much as possible. A child may feel that they need to learn as much as possible and get all the rewards and privileges that come with it.
I had no problem using Life Skills Worksheets when I was growing up. They were never there to punish me, they were there to help me understand myself better and to develop better skills in different areas of my life. I still use them today to keep my personality and character in check, but I can see how some parents might not be able to do this and I’m just thankful that I found a way to handle some of the things that were bothering me at times.
The only thing that made me feel like I was being bad is when I would be told that I was not doing my part of good parenting. The abuse and chaos that I witnessed in my home didn’t make it right. I didn’t deserve to live in that type of environment. Some of it was pretty extreme, but I’m thankful that I was able to grow up in a better environment than the one that led to some of the problems.
By using Life Skills Worksheets I was able to clean up my own house, I could make better choices for my family and I was able to find out where some of the major issues in my family came from. This can help any parent to keep their family safe and to have more successful relationships.
My father used to say that one of the most important things in life is being able to know yourself, which is something that can only be done with Life Skills Worksheets. We don’t need to wait until our kids get to be teenagers before we teach them about the value of self-control, perseverance and making good decisions.
