“The Worksheet 7th Grade” by Julie Knight, is a story book for young students. It is one of the first story books from Scholastic that focuses on learning. The book is similar to the popular series that is being taught at school today: Roald Dahl’s “James and the Giant Peach”.
“The Worksheet 7th Grade” focuses on James and his aunt Polly, as they find themselves trapped in the castle that James’ great-grandfather and father fought in a hundred years before. They find an invisible wall that was there when they were small children but that the older ones forgot about as they grew up.
After James learns that he and his aunt are on the surface of the Earth and that there is no way to get back home, he runs away from home, trying to reunite with his mother. He meets a bunch of people, like Penny, an astronaut who saves him from being taken to the surface.
Along the way, James also meets several other people like Elizabeth, a woman who gave birth to him; Pierre, a boy who used to work as a conductor of trains, and Patrick, a librarian who teaches James how to read. There are many people who help James as he helps them.
Although James is able to save the world from destruction, he accidentally hurts the humans, but they let him keep going. James tries to get back home but he cannot find his way because of the surface area.
“The Worksheet 7th Grade” has a bunch of different tools that help the reader explore the surface area and learn about the different people involved in the story. For example, the reader can touch the four corners of the different characters’ bodies and the different items and objects that were touched.
The two other characters in the story are both “musicians”. These two musicians play the same songs that James plays to hide James’ true identity as a child.
A very simple story, but the surface area in this story were eye catching. Although it was simple, it really excited me to learn more about the different people and learn more about the surface area. I’m sure that my son will enjoy this story book too, especially since he loves the Roald Dahl series.
