Teachers should be sure that the students are aware of the deadline, so that they know to come back to the class and finish the assignment, as soon as possible.
Many students also need to turn in their home study and textbook materials. Not turning these in will cause them to be late for tests and assignments. The same thing goes for class note cards. When teachers know that the students are turning in all of their materials, they can start marking those out, and making sure that they are all accounted for.

When a student gets upset, the teacher may have a difficult time getting them to come to class. They can come to the chat room and ask any questions they may have, without having to worry about whether they’ll be stuck on the computer for an hour or two, or if the other students are going to start arguing with them.
Students are not always aware of these things, but teachers can help them make sure that they know.
