Activity Worksheets for Kids. I’m sorry, but these are the only things you will ever need in this world, unless you have a multi-million dollar fortune. And even then, it doesn’t help your child if you think that way. Parents should learn to be creative and use their children’s interests to develop more skill-based activities.
There are many great opportunities in our society that can help your child develop more quickly. I’ve seen kids with absolutely no interest in anything walk up to a conversation and say things like, “I don’t know!” Or “That’s so cool!” It’s amazing what we can do when we put a little creativity into the mix.
This can help your child find “big brother” when they are growing up. So, if you don’t want to teach your child to be a big brother, consider what the others can do. How about teaching them how to ride a bike? Not all children love bikes, but if they spend a little time with them and learn how to ride them, they will have fun and be doing something they enjoy. I have five kids, and you can see that if I didn’t have bikes, they would be wasting their time.
So, let’s give the kids an opportunity to look at other people who are using bikes. Let’s open up the doors and let them see the latest and greatest. How about your child looking around and looking at how cool that is?
Another opportunity is: take them to the park and let them be part of something. Sometimes we do what’s right by ourselves, and that makes us feel better about ourselves. When we do that, we miss out on learning and becoming better people. If you can, do what is right by your child, and let them get out and try something new, just like everyone else.
You can also take this opportunity to show them what makes up the activity. One great example would be, let’s say you can take the kids to the zoo, or the zoo’s concession stand. They can get something they like to eat at the concession stand, then bring it home. Just use the activity, bring it home, and have the kids make their own popcorn.
To be more specific, let’s take the “Coke Bottle Trick.” A bottle of Coke could be used and make sure that the kids are standing on their tip-toes (like they are on skates) and do this: the child stands on one foot, takes a step forward and breaks the bottle over the child’s head, then back in one step, and snaps the bottle over the child’s head again. You can do this in half a minute, and it doesn’t take any special skills. In fact, there are adults who can do this in three steps.
I hope you are beginning to see how fun it is to use these activities and what they can do for your child. As long as you focus on the goal and are creative, they will begin to enjoy what they are doing and what the rest of the world can offer.
