Toning refers to the degree of soundness in a material. It can also refer to the pitch or quality of a material. That’s right. I said pitch.
The membranes of most very sensitive cells in our bodies are able to vibrate at different frequencies. In other words, some membranes vibrate and resonate to a greater or lesser degree. In fact, some of the most sensitive membranes in our bodies are found in our facial tissues and skin’s pores.
What we need to understand, though, is that the cell membrane and tonicity of the skin tissue and pores are different from what we find in the rest of our body. I believe it’s because our cell membranes are permeable. You see, our cell membranes are not as permeable as theirs.
This means that the skin has much more flexibility and its toxicity is greatly influenced by temperature. Therefore, we can conclude that tonicity is dictated by the temperature of the outside environment. In short, if you heat up a room with just water on the surface, your skin tone will be redder and more irritating.
Humidity is another factor. Studies show that if you get a lot of humidity inside, your skin tone will appear to darken and become more irritable. The same holds true if you get very high humidity.
I can tell you that if you look at a colored picture of a person’s cell membrane, you’ll see that the color of the membrane changes depending on the environment that it is in. That is what makes tonicity so interesting.
