A student’s curriculum vitae will list their special talents, hobbies, extracurricular activities, or awards won. Teachers may want to include these items on their worksheets so students will have something to refer to throughout the year. Students can be encouraged to sign their work “FWD” (For Your Work) so that others can see what they are doing. A worksheet with this information should be used as a way to teach students about the major world events of each decade and how they relate to American history.

Many states were formed in the years prior to the Civil War, with the result that slavery was legal in only a few states at that time. This worked out well for the southern states, which formed the Confederacy in order to preserve slavery.
