Potential and Kinetic Energy Worksheet Answer Key

It is always a good idea to understand the concept of Potential and Kinetic Energy before we can really understand how Effective Energy Systems work. This form of Energy can be described as one of the three major types of energy used in everyday life. These three main categories are:

The first form of energy is Kinetic Energy or simply called kinetic. Kinetic energy is basically the energy that an object has because of its motion (a force). This energy comes from the following sources; the flow of molecules, the action of forces, collisions between particles or even a slight bump on the surface of a particle which causes it to release its energy.

It is important to note that there is an inverse relationship between potential and kinetic energy. The more the object moves the less kinetic energy it has. When an object is at rest (at rest mass times zero) then there is no kinetic energy and hence there is no potential energy.

The second form of energy is called potential energy. It is a form of potential energy that is present in an object because of its position, velocity, or motion with respect to the constant force that is applied to the object. This can be described as being like the first form of energy because the value of the potential energy is derived from the state of an object’s motion.

The third type of energy is called kinetic energy and it is derived from the magnitude of the applied force by applying a force and the magnitude of the acceleration of the object. It is because of this form of kinetic energy that is it critical to have a large enough moving surface (for example a spinning machine) so that the object is constantly moving and because of this it does not stop. The smaller the force (in kg) and the faster the object’s velocity, the less kinetic energy it has.

Many systems, machines, and devices utilize some combination of these three forms of Energy. This can be anything from a toaster to an aircraft turbine and so on. In addition to being used for space travel many other systems such as those used in industry to produce electricity also use some form of Kinetic Energy.

The third form of Energy is simply called potential energy and it can be used to describe the quantity of energy that is available due to the state of motion of a particle or other object. It can also be a measurement of the force needed to keep the particle in motion and its inertia and the energy required to make the particle move once more.

There are other components of Effective Energy Systems that are important but these three main ones are the most important to us and are essential. Understanding what they are and how they work will help us understand the usefulness of Energy and how we can use it to create a better world.
