Pronouns and Antecedents Worksheets

The writing on the wall has it that pronouns and antecedents are now going to be an ever more important part of your communication. In fact, your communication is more likely to have to deal with pronouns and antecedents than words. That said, when you don’t use pronouns and antecedents correctly, you will have a much harder time communicating your needs than you should.

When you communicate, you do two things. You first define the topic of the communication, and then you communicate the information that you have for the topic. In this way, you are trying to gather information and convey ideas. In addition, when you have two people talk, they’re likely to have some sort of conversation with one another, and sometimes they will end up talking about something which they aren’t even talking about. When this happens, the person not only doesn’t know what to say but also doesn’t know what the other person wants to say!

Verbal communication is often a challenge, because there is often no concrete fact, nor even any very real, concrete information for someone to convey. Unfortunately, these conditions are not always the case with pronouns and antecedents worksheets. You can be confident that if you give one of these worksheets to your customer and ask them to communicate something, they’ll be able to use the information you have given them to communicate it correctly.

There are all sorts of instances where you may be asked to communicate something, and you may have several choices for pronouns and antecedents to help communicate the information you want to communicate. When you’re asking a person to communicate something, whether it’s an idea, a fact, or a feeling, chances are that they aren’t particularly clear on exactly what they want to communicate.

Suppose you’re talking to a client and you ask them to talk about something in relation to a direct object. You may have two persons talking, but the person who is talking to you may be quite unclear about what they’re talking about. Because the person isn’t sure what they want to say, they’re unable to convey the information you have about the topic that they are talking about, and you can’t really see what they are trying to say. You have no idea what their idea of what the direct object is.

It’s very hard to talk about a specific topic without being clear about what the subject is trying to communicate. If you can’t communicate that, you’re not going to be able to communicate about it at all.
