Fragments and Run On Sentences Worksheets are essential to effective teaching. I have spent most of my life teaching. This is the way I learned, and it’s the way I teach now.
What is a workbook? It’s a collection of chapters that you can work on individually or as a group, or which you can use interchangeably to organize information. A workbook can include anything from the chapters for Breakfast in the Afternoon to Today’s Class, but usually the chapters for an English course will go like this:
Now, these concepts are not the same for everyone. You may learn one concept one day and another the next, and so on. The idea is to introduce the concepts as your student’s progress through the course.
A good way to do this is to break each chapter up into chunks. Say you’ve read the Breakfast in the Afternoon chapter before, and you learned the idea of “chunks.” What you could do then is, on the first day, to start out with a short chapter, like “Chunk One” of “Chunks and Run On Sentences.”
Chunk One would include all the chapters on how to make a sandwich, among other things. Then, on the second day, go to Chunk Two. Here, you’ll look at using quesadillas. And so on.
Because chunks are arranged that way, you can move an entire section from one book to another. Chunks and Run On Sentences Worksheets are useful because they’re a very organized way to organize a bunch of materials. They come with tables and charts, so that you can see where your material fits.
