Community service is a way to get people to remember you. While many places have money for volunteer programs, it is still possible to get people to remember you. Below are some community service worksheets that can be made to collect a person’s name and contact information.
Make two different community service programs, one for the good of society and one for the individual. You want to make sure the two programs complement each other. You could use a common template or try and create your own. Any good program should include the following:
Create a short public service announcement about someone who is truly in need. You could use this program to alert the community about a newly homeless person or an elderly person who has been lost or left behind. You could also use it to announce that someone is having their birthday party at a certain location. There are many uses for this program, including one to help get out the vote in a particular election. This will give you the opportunity to send out reminders to voters about the election that is pertinent to them.
Make a written announcement for someone who has recently celebrated their birthday, the first time in years they have been free of illnesses. Or, if they have been battling cancer, make the announcement a list of things they could do to help, like sell some of their unused medication. This could also be something to pass out to people who are on their way to a friend or relative’s funeral.
Write an announcement that is a short story about someone who is just starting their new beginning, even if they are trying to figure out how to live it. Or, it could be something about someone who is just returning from their first day of school. Whatever the case, write about what you need to know about the person, and include information about their new job or their new home. Use a great community service worksheet as a little update on any given issue. Find a different person’s name to use for an update on diabetes or heart disease. They could work with the mayor’s office to collect donations of food and take part in a hunger fast.
After you do this exercise, you will want to get back to writing out another one. Write out the reasons why you have put off writing this program for a while. It could be that you are unable to think of another reason, or maybe you have gotten busy.
Finally, you will want to write down the name and phone number of the person that you are going to use as the recipient of your community service program. This person can easily be contacted when they are still living, and then you can send out a reminder when they move. Remember, there is no rule that says you have to use them, but if you want to keep on coming back, you can make the program an option that is free to anyone who needs it.
